Day 2 | Awareness & exclusion8/7/2018 After lunch, we got our bikes and drove to the neighbourhood where we're going to organize our Urban Safari's: Linkeroever. Because it was so hot (36 degrees) we got some free time to swim and play in the lake after a busy morning. The afternoon program was about the Dice Game, a game in sort of monopoly style that not only learned us how unfair and unequal society can let you feel when you're discriminated and excluded from a group. The purpose was to be aware of the fact that this happens in society every day, we learned the need to adapt and overcome obstacles when we enter a new group/community but also how acceptance and support can effect our integration in a new group/community. This also inspired us to use it on the Urban Safari.
Before we left we did another game where we stated something about us and other could join our statement of it applied on them to. By playing this game we realised that we had more in common than we thought and that we should focus on our similarities and not our differences. Afonso (Tá a Mexer) & Marcelo (Tá a Mexer)

Day 2 | Namasté8/7/2018 This morning we started the day with a yoga class from Margaritha. The best way to start your day!! Thanks Margaritha!
After the yoga class we learned how difficult and refreshing it can be to communicate without using words. We experienced how important teambuildings are and how to work together in different situations. Dina (CHANGEMAKERz) & Michiel (City Pirates) Day 01 | Crossing the line8/6/2018 During dinner we made music, some were rapping, some where singing together. After dinner we relaxed and talked about the program week, about CHANGEMAKERz and City Pirates. We got a presentation about the program and the expectations of the project 'Games 4 Change' and watched a video about the activity we're going to organize this week: Urban Safari. After this there was a suggestion to organize morning activities for the early birds. There where some volunteers who wanted to organize yoga, bootcamp, aerobics, child plays (hind and seek, tag etc) and kickboxing. We ended the program with cross the line. Cross the line is an activity where you cross a line if a statement applies to you. It was funny but sometimes confronting but it made us get to know each other on a deeper level. The first day was already a succes. Soumaya (CHANGEMAKERz) & Oscar (Coordinator City Pirates) Day 01 | Get to know each other8/6/2018 Hello Antwerp 🇧🇪❤
Today we had a very nice time getting to know each other and having lots of fun with different ice breaking games (we even made rap songs to learn our names!). Some of them are still difficult to learn but we can figure out most of them, and if we don't, we still have good anecdotes to share. At the end of the afternoon we walked through the city in a Urban Safari with different games and we even trade things with locals. Raquel (Fifede Tenerife) & Yasmina (CHANGEMAKERz) Day 01 | Different but the same8/6/2018 Different countries, different cities, different languages, different genders, different colours, different habits, different...
But... Same hearts, same blood, same souls, same visions, same... Humans... A top week to get out of our comfort zone and learn new stuff from new people who we normally not meet because of the distance... It's all about exploring the world and make it better. Yves (Youth Worker City Pirates) & Mohammed (Coach CHANGEMAKERz) 2 Antwerp!8/5/2018 Team NL has arrived in Antwerp! The program starts tomorrow but we wanted to arrive early and relax before a full program of Games 4 Changes!
Team NL: get to know each other!7/15/2018 We came together as Team NL and everyone had to introduce them self with the 5 finger technique: 1. Thumb: something your good at/what are your talents? 2. Index Finger: where do you want to go/what are your goals? 3. Middle Finger: what do you hate/dislike? 4. Ring Finger: what/who are you loyal to? 5. Pinky: what is something you want to work on/develop yourself in? We discussed the objectives of the project and shared tasks to prepare. Team NL is responsible of the activities to get to know each other and to keep up the energy during the program. Our homework was to think about ideas of name games, ice breakers and energizers. Coach Maleeq (Saber) Information evening G4C!6/19/2018 We shared a flyer (see below) to promote our project. Today we invited all the youngsters who where interested in our project. I translated the meeting for some parents in Arabic. The mom of Soumaya wanted to know what the project was about who is going to take her daughter to another country. We explained that besides the youngsters Coach Dina was going along as well. When we finished this meeting we had an assignment for the youngsters to apply: they had to make a short video of themselves and share their motivation and what they can contribute to Team NL.
Coach Maleeq (Saber) First meeting: NL & BE meet again!5/21/2018 The first meeting both teams met in Amsterdam. Oscar (City Pirates/partner Belgium), Mohammed (CHANGEMAKERz/partner Netherlands), Abdelali (youngster CHANGEMAKERz) and me (Saber aka Coach Maleeq). We were together to discuss the exchange and how we were going to work together. That was the main focus. During this meeting we shared our knowledge ideas and story’s. The exchange was already set up by Oscar, we were going to work with a total of 4 countries: Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal. and Spain). Because we believe in the power of sports we named this project 'Games 4 Change!'. The main focus is that we share the power of sport as a tool. I did a exercise named Free Writing where I let Oscar, Mohammed and Abdelali write on paper while they listened to calm music. Afterwards we shared tasks and went on from there on. We're going to visit Oscar in Antwerp to meet his youngsters and discover the place. See you soon! Coach Maleeq (Saber) |
